Emergency Response
University Police officers patrol campus on foot and in marked patrol vehicles to ensure the safety and security of the University community. These fully commissioned law enforcement officers possess full police authority and receive ongoing professional training to maintain the highest standards of public safety and service.

Emergency Medical Assistance
Campus Police officers are trained First Responders and can provide initial emergency medical assistance until additional medical personnel arrive.

Motorist Assistance
University Police will make all reasonable efforts to assist motorists whose vehicles have become disabled on University property.

Student Transportation Services
Students requiring transportation assistance for extended or ongoing needs should contact the Office of Student Accessibility Services.

Lost and Found
Lost and found items should be reported to or turned in to Campus Police. To inquire about a lost item or report found property, contact the non-emergency line at (610) 282-1002.

DSUTIP Anonymous Crime Reporting
Anonymous crime reports may be submitted by texting DSUTIP to 79516.

Fingerprinting Services
Fingerprinting services are available to University faculty, staff, and students. Please call the non-emergency number at (610) 282-1002 to schedule an appointment.

RAD Self-Defense Program for Women
The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Program is a comprehensive self-defense course designed specifically for women. Registration information can be found using the Quick Links section at the top of this page.

• Collect, classify, and count Clery Act crime reports and statistics

• Issue campus alerts 

  • Timely warnings alert the campus community of Clery Act Crimes that pose a serious or continuing threat to the campus community.

  • Emergency Notifications inform the campus community upon confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation occurring on the campus that involves an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees.

• Publish an Annual Security Report containing Clery Act crime statistics and safety and security related policy statements and inform all current and prospective students and employees of its availability. 

  • Disclose policy and procedures for institutional disciplinary action in cases of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking in the Annual Security Report.

  • Disclose fire safety information related to on-campus student housing facilities, which includes a fire log that is open to public inspection, publish an annual fire safety report containing policy statements as well as fire statistics associated with each on-campus housing facility.

  • Disclose missing student notification procedures that pertain to students residing in on-campus student housing

• Submit Clery Act crime statistics (and fire statistics related to on-campus student housing facilities) to the U.S. Department of Education each fall through web-based data collection.

• Maintain a Daily Crime Log of reported criminal incidents that is open to public inspections.  The Crime Log is located at our Headquarters on campus.

• Provide educational programs and campaigns to promote the awareness of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and hazing.

• Complete a semi-annual Hazing Transparency Report.

Campus Security Authorities (CSA)

Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) are individuals or offices that, because of their role at the University, are required under the Clery Act to report alleged Clery Act crimes that are reported to them in good faith or that they personally witness.

A report is made in “good faith” when there is a reasonable basis to believe the information is credible and not simply rumor or hearsay.

Under the Clery Act, a crime is considered “reported” when it is brought to the attention of a CSA, campus police/security, or local law enforcement by a victim, witness, third party, or offender, regardless of whether those involved are affiliated with the University.

Who is a CSA?

CSAs generally include:

• Members of campus police or security departments.
• Individuals responsible for campus security functions.
• Offices designated to receive reports of criminal offenses.
• Officials with significant responsibility for student and campus activities, including student housing, discipline, student organizations, and athletics.

Examples include University Police personnel, Residence Life staff, athletic coaches, student conduct officials, and faculty advisors to student organizations.

Who is NOT a CSA?

The following are generally not considered CSAs when acting within the scope of their duties:

• Pastoral counselors and professional counselors.
• Faculty members without responsibility for student or campus activities outside the classroom.
• Clerical, administrative support, or food service staff.

CSA Reporting Responsibilities

CSAs who receive information about an alleged Clery Act crime in good faith, or personally witness a possible Clery Act crime, must report the information to University Police or through the CSA Incident Report Form. 

CSAs are not responsible for investigating crimes, determining whether a crime occurred, or apprehending suspects. Those responsibilities belong to law enforcement.
